Lights, Darkness, Action!

With the addition of particle effects and the general chatter about lights in TPS I thought I would conduct my own experiment for lighting and darkness. I know RCT3 took a major hit when the lights went on but I have to say, TPS is still workable with the lights on.

Here are some shots of a park I'm working on at the moment...

A Fountain lit by blue and green lights


View from inside a burger bar


This park has 3 different coasters, 2 of which have 2 trains, plenty of trees and water  as well as terraforming. Whilst the fps do slow down, its not that much different between night time and day time.

Congrats to Pantera for getting this right!

Thought I would show you this...

From the same park but during daytime. Count the 4 coasters in this shot (there is one on the hill right at the back). There are tons of scenery items (trees etc) and I will need to find a special place for Abletudu's dragon - not sure if he will be swooping in between a giant loop or on top of a coaster station - not sure yet but he will be there! (Will post a piccy when sited)

I was trying to get Abletudu's dragon into my park and although it duly downloaded, I was having trouble moving it into the position I wanted as I kept "leaving bits behind".

I was then reading another part of the forum (a thread about resizing objects), when the answer to my problem became apparent (and of course - we all know who supplied the answer - none other than Abletudu!). He mentioned that having the multi part object selected, you need to "lock" it into one object. Then you can move, resize etc and the results are shown below...



Just so that you can see there are no strings attached - a day time shot.


Just goes to show - read other threads in the forum - you never know what you might discover!

Great idea. A dragon sitting on a batwing - I love it. Did you add some particle effects (flame thrower) to the dragons mouth? I think this would be looking great, when the dragon is spitting fire whenever a coaster train is flying through the loop.

Btw.: where can I download this dragon? I couldn't find it in the workshops... :-[

Once I discovered you can place lights under the surface so that you can't see the light ball, it makes for some interesting lighting.

Sadly, something has gone awry with the file this park was in - it's gone from around 117k to 2k and is sadly lost. There is a (very) remote chance my background backup program has copied it somewhere - I will have a look. Failing that, Abletudu's dragon WILL rise again in one of my parks and WILL shoot fire when a car approaches! That is too good an idea to miss.
