Theme Park Studio Oculus Rift Update
« on: October 17, 2014, 06:47:28 PM »
Did you know that Oculus Rift support in Theme Park Studio was recently updated?

The developers have released an update to make your Theme Park Studio virtual experience better and to address some of the early detected issues when using Oculus Rift.

Oculus Rift support is just one of the many features that make Theme Park Studio a superb theme park experience.

Make sure that you have the latest version to take advantage of the improved Oculus Rift support.

And as always, thank you for your support while we continue to make Theme Park Studio the best virtual theme park experience around.

That's great news, and a likely purchase down the line.

One feature I would like to see is the Arcade that is in the demo parks completed.  With playable arcade machines and MAME support.  With Oculus Rift support for the park outside, and fully working arcade inside.  Now that would be a totally immersive experience!  8)

Why would you buy an  Oculus Rift and then play virtual video arcade games? You can go to a regular arcade and play the games cheaper than buying an Oculus Rift.

Why would I buy a Themepark game when I can go to a Themepark?

Hmmm I think you missed my point about an immerse experience.

Theme parks are still usually cheaper than a OR, LOL.

lol I bought Theme Park Studio because I love the thrill of a theme park - and the atmosphere it has.  This is clearly enhanced by using the Oculus Rift - because you're not looking at a screen, you are totally immersed in the park!

My point is, why have a building in the demo parks that says 'Arcade' when the arcade machines don't actually function?  So this was a feature request - and would be especially good with MAME support for emulating all those classic arcade games.  Hopefully this can be something for the near future.   :)

My point was that I was just making a joke of it, trying to bring a little levity here, but I guess my joke fell flat. I guess if the arcade things worked in the game you would have to move around like with the WII.

Outside of having to actually code the games, there would be serious legal considerations as well. If Pantera tried to throw, say a Pacman in there, they would instantly be hit with a DMCA takedown from NAMCO, since it would be part of a larger game that they are selling for profit. Even Skee Ball has been owned by the originators for over 100 years.

Having said that, this is one of the things I thought about when I suggested a scripting feature in TPS. Coding these type games and selling them in a larger package, such as TPS, does constitute unauthorized use of intellectual property, however, one of us coding the same thing, utilizing an in game scripting engine, then sharing it with everyone else is fine, since it falls under educational and fair-use.

Update:

I want ahead and put a feature request in on Mantis:
