Okay.. I found out why it didn't start. Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2010 was missing.

I didn'play Theme Park Studio for a while and just installed it to give it another try but it won't start at all. I don't get any error messages, it just doesn't start.

Intel Core i5 3570 @3,4Ghz
16 Gb Ram
Nvidia GeForce GTX 660ti
Windows 7 64bit

The boxed version will ship when the platinum edition is finished. It is in testing right now.

Dark Rides Dicussion / Can we get a status update?

Been away for a while (almost a year).  What is the status of Dark rides?  Namely do we have a means yet to create a room that when completely enclosed it is pitch black?  Personally I'd much rather see that implemented than VR support.

When I create a mountain, or space ride (giant box ride like space mountain) I expect it to be dark, and lit with the lighting I implement not be lit up much like it is outside.  Using VR does not improve this situation  The  immersive experience is as much about lighting, props, and set, as it is about the VR aspect.  Any set designer can tell you this and any ride designer at almost every theme park will too.

So how much progress has been made in this area since it was first requested by users?  How much effort (man/hours lets say) has actually been put in? How many in the last year even?

The Cds will be prepared when all updates and bugs have been finished.


2 days short of a year... no cd's.

You do realize that there will never be a time when a program of this size will be bug free?

With the perpetual nature of new hardware (graphics, cpu, sound) drivers (for the afore mentioned), directX/direct3d changes/updates, VisualC library implementation there will always be some bug or another.  Unless you were hoping to put a program that allows you hit a button and it prints 'hello world' to the screen, this  needs to be recognized and accepted. Microsoft, apple, Square enix, EA, Lionhead, the list goes on forever, have way more capital and staff, and content they have produced that is alot older than TPS, still has bugs, and still has new bugs appearing.

Instead of beating around the bush, just put it to rest.

a) there will always be bugs
b) cd's will ship when there are no bugs
c) cd's will never ship.

Hello!

I am a long time supporter of Theme Park Studio and I have been in the loop about the game from very early on. However, I have take a rather long leave of absence from the game. Regardless, I am back.

So my question is... what exactly have a missed in the past 2 or 3 years? My understanding is that the game is just about ready to be released. Am I correct on this? While it's not exactly the "Summer 2013" release I was anticipating, it's good to see that we're nearing completion. I'm sure the wait will be worth it.

Also, I stopped receiving updates via email. I did change my address so I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I remember each new module had an update with it. If one of the moderators could provide me with a link or message that could help point me in the right direction, I would appreciate that very deeply.
